Repair verses Rebuilding a Transmission

Most people are told they need a replace their faulty transmission with a new or rebuild one. But there is another option, repair your transmission if possible, and save. A rebuilt transmission calls for the replacement of the torque converter, seals, bearing, clutches (steels & friction plates) solenoids, electronics and soft parts. The list of parts and the labor is often greater than the parts and labor to repair a transmission.

  1. Electronic Test Equipment

There's nothing wrong when you repair faulty devices. Just make sure that they undergo some test using equipment such as electronic test equipment.

  2. What about a ZF5HP19. I have a code "EGS Conveter Lockup". But the transmission feels tight, works in all gears, works smoothly in standard mode, sport mode , and manual mode. I just have a hard time believing I need a "new transmission". I would be open to a re-build but only if it is done absolutly right. Can your shop do this?
